Partnership in Workforce Education Drives Business Results

We always advise our customers developing a new or enhanced training program to attach their goals to business results. After all, the desired end-result of a training program is a strong company, which contributes to a strong nation.

And we are always excited to partner with organizations that speak the same language.

Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP) is a perfect example. MEP is a national network and the only public-private partnership dedicated to serving small and medium-sized U.S. manufacturers. Its mission is to enhance the productivity and technological performance of U.S. manufacturing.

That is music to our ears — strengthening U.S. manufacturing has been a mantra of ours for years. Like Tooling U-SME, MEP has helped manufacturers address their most pressing issues related to productivity, quality, innovation, cost reduction and more.

We’ve seen MEP in action ourselves. Part of the National Institute of Standards and Technology, MEP is a long-time partner of SME for lean training, and certification programs.

Tooling U-SME and MEP are now combining efforts to expand workforce education and help manufacturers achieve a competitive advantage in the global marketplace.

We have long believed Tooling U-SME has a responsibility to empower the manufacturing industry with the tools it needs to succeed. By furthering our partnership with MEP, we’re able to make great progress in staving off the shortage of workers with the right skills. And that helps companies drive measurable business results.

This new workforce educational partnership, which taps into Tooling U-SME’s vast learning and instructional design experience along with more than 550 online classes, thousands of books and videos, assessments and certifications, will help expand the resources offered to MEP clients at its 51 centers in all 50 states and Puerto Rico. It will give greater flexibility in training solutions and our collaboration will help develop each local industry’s workforce and strengthen manufacturing communities around the country.

As Carroll Thomas, MEP Director, said, “Collaborating with Tooling U-SME will increase our ability to help more manufacturers reach their productivity and economic goals, while ensuring the growth of the industry.”

Together, we are combining our resources and networks to help manufacturers build a strong, adaptable workforce to ensure their companies — and our nation — thrive well into the future.
