Department Description
Composites TrainingAn increasing number of manufacturers rely on composites to create their products. Composite materials appear in cars, tub and shower surfaces, and sporting goods equipment. Manufacturers of modern aircraft are particularly dependent on composite materials. Composite materials offer a unique set of properties that other materials cannot provide. They offer excellent strength, stiffness, and durability, and they manage this without adding any significant weight.

These classes explain the material properties of traditional and advanced composites, as well as the processes used to create products from these materials. The class content first addresses the material composition, resins, and reinforcement materials of traditional and advanced composites and also surveys the most common composite processes used in manufacturing facilities. Intermediate-classes provide a “how to” approach for vacuum bagging and also focus on inspecting and repairing composite parts.
