Automated Fiber Placement / Automated Tape Layup

Automated fiber placement (AFP) and automated tape layup (ATL) uses robotics to mechanically apply fiber tape in multiple layers in different directions to create a composite material with increased strength. AFP and ATL result in light-weight composites with high quality to match or even surpass heavier steel materials. AFP and ATL operators how sufficiently understand the necessary machine setup and operation will create composite parts with less time, cost, and waste.
