Mechanical Systems Department

Department Overview
Department Name: Mechanical Systems Department
Number of Classes: 12

Department Description
Mechanical Systems TrainingAlmost every manufacturing process involves some type of motion. Cutting tools rotate to remove material, assembly lines advance to move product, and engines power the travel of vehicles. In every case, mechanical components are used to transfer energy and produce motion to carry out useful work.

These classes explain the fundamental concepts of mechanical maintenance for individuals in the manufacturing environment. The class content first addresses the basic components used in mechanical systems, explains concepts such as force and work, and emphasizes the importance of lubrication. Intermediate-level classes compare applications for mechanical components within each category and also address how to quantify and compare power variables.
