Tooling University introduces new tools for companies, individuals, and schools that follow NIMS Standards.

Tooling University now offers new NIMS-specific features for administrators. Now administrators can automatically add class lists to the student schedules that are directly mapped to specific NIMS standards. Administrators can also run reports that track student progress along NIMS training-related material. For students, we added transcript options that allow students to check their progress toward NIMS credentialing.

What Is NIMS? The National Institute for Metalworking Skills (NIMS) is the nation's only ANSI-accredited developer of precision manufacturing skill standards and competency assessments. NIMS certifies individual skills against standards and accredits programs that meet its quality requirements. NIMS stakeholders represent over 6,000 American companies.

For more information about these new features, call us at 866-706-8665 .

¿Dónde está Tooling University en español?

It's now located in a new section of our web site! For a number of years, we've offered a set of our core classes translated into Spanish. However, we've recently ramped up our translation efforts by offering our classes in a completely new Spanish interface, with fully translated navigation and Student Center pages. You can view our new Spanish site at www.toolingu.com/spanish. We're also rapidly developing new Spanish translations in all our subject areas.

Tip of the Month:
Use 2-4-6 blocks to support long parts in a milling machine. (See example photo)

Machine Shop Trade Secrets: A Guide to Manufacturing Machine Shop Practices2-4-6 blocks are relatively inexpensive and have a variety of uses in a machine shop. They work great for quickly supporting and aligning long parts in a milling machine vise.

Their heights allow long parts to clear the bottom of the vise yet still be held with the vise.
