An update from our content department
New Soldering Classes!

We just released a new series of soldering classes for industrial assemblers and maintenance/repair professionals. These seven new soldering classes address common soldering equipment, proper safety precautions, manual soldering techniques, and the properties of lead-free solders:
These classes will appear primarily in both the "Electrical Assembler" and "Electrician: Maintenance" job titles, along with our other classes that focus on quality, inspection, electrical systems, and similar topics.

More Hydraulics/Pneumatics Classes

We also recently released additional classes in our Hydraulics/Pneumatics department, which is focused on maintenance professionals and complements our other maintenance subjects in Electrical Systems and Mechanical Systems. New titles include the following: These are intermediate-level classes that build on our current material. Plus, we plan on releasing advanced-level titles this quarter and reaching a total of 20 classes in this area. Future classes will address matching components with specifications and selecting the proper fluid and filter for hydraulic systems.

Tip of the Month:
Construct a simple vise fixture for holding tall parts. (See example photo)

Machine Shop Trade Secrets: A Guide to Manufacturing Machine Shop PracticesThis fixture can be used to rigidly hold tall parts for machining. It was constructed of 1 ˝ inch aluminum plate machined parallel on both sides with bolt holes added to match the existing back vise jaw tapped holes. Using this fixture is quicker than clamping and indicating an angle plate on the machine table.
