Tooling University Class
Update
Get ready for more Tooling
University classes focused on the GE Fanuc control. Our current offering of
intermediate and advanced-level classes based on the CNC lathe will be expanded
to include a similar series of
classes on the mill.
We have begun development on the new milling classes, addressing how to power
up, home the machine, and enter offsets. More difficult classes will focus on
activating and executing programs, adding programs from various storage methods
and using the editing features of the control.
We expect to complete our series of GE Fanuc classes based on the mill by April
2006. These classes will use the 0-M control as the basis for following
step-by-step instructions.
Tooling University has experienced
some exciting growth in the last six months!
With the addition of the
following seven new employees, we have grown to serve you better.

In the March 2006 issue of Production Machining Magazine, you'll find an
article witten by Chris Felix, featuring Tooling University.
"When I began writing for Production Machining, I
wanted to be sure I had a solid refresher. I began reading. I read a lot, from
back issues of our magazine to text books. One of the best tools I found,
though, was Tooling U." - Chris Felix, Associate Editor, Production Machining

Use a common fly
cutter to extend the reach of a boring head. (See example photo)
 One
easy way to extend the reach of a boring head is to install a fly cutter in the
cross slide of the head. Coarse diameter adjustments can be made by adjusting
the position of the cutting tool in the fly cutter. Precise diameter
adjustments can be made with the boring head.
