Online Training Is Available For PMPA Member Companies.
Tooling University,
the leading provider of online training classes for metalworking manufacturing,
is working with PMPA to bring training to the desktop computers of member
company employees. Complete details of the Tooling U/ PMPA partnership can be
found at www.toolingu.com/pmpa.
Tooling U currently offers more than 90 classes and will add approximately 50
more by the end of 2004. The first class on Screw Machining began in February
of this year, and an intermediate Screw Machining class was introduced in late
March. Since TU was launched in the Fall of 2001, hundreds of companies and
thousands of students have completed their training or are in the process of
taking classes.
TU classes are developed by an in-house team of instructional designers along
with subject matter experts at leading industry companies and organizations.
The training site is currently seeking technical reviews from subject matter
experts for some of the more advanced Screw Machining classes. These advanced
classes will be launched later this year. Please contact PMPA if you are
interested in lending your expertise to this effort.
All TU classes are conducted online and supported by text, audio voice-overs,
video, photographs and illustrations. Courses also include a class outline,
class objectives, a vocabulary list, pre-tests and final exams, an interactive
dictionary, as well as note-taking and storing capabilities.
Tooling U provides each company administrator with a username and password at no
additional charge. This administrator is typically an Human Resources manager,
training manager or shop floor supervisor. The administrator prescribes the
curriculum for trainees, sets student permissions, monitors trainee progress
and test results, and communicates with trainees online via the Administra-tion
Center. To see a demonstration of the Administration Center, visit www.toolingu.com/tours.aspx and choose “Launch Administrative Tour.”
Site training for the administrator is also provided by TU.
You can find the Tooling U subscription price list posted at
www.toolingu.com/price_list.aspx. All major credit cards are accepted online.
However, you will have to speak with a Tooling U representative to set up a
corporate account for multiple trainees using a company purchase order number
and to receive a 10 percent PMPA member discount on your subscription(s). To
set up your account, call toll free: (866) 706-8665. To take a free trial class
