Your UAW local and Volvo have entered into an agreement to make our online training available at no charge to you. In fact, many of you will be compensated with pay increases that are set to your level of accomplishment.

All classes have audio, so everything that's written is also spoken. The multiple-choice tests at the end of each class, however, will require an 8th Grade reading level. Click here for resources to help with reading comprehension. You will receive a certificate for each completed class. After you have successfully completed the first five classes, you will be awarded your certificates and a ToolingU T-shirt.

ToolingU does not require a lot of computer ability. Once you log in to your account, you will point and click your way through the audio, video and interactive exercises. We’re certain you will find this a fast, easy and relevant way to document your abilities and gain new knowledge in modern manufacturing techniques

The program is broken down into four levels (competencies), with the first containing 42 class modules on a variety of subjects including safety, metal cutting, inspection, quality and blueprint reading. Each class should average about 60 minutes, although many of the basic classes in the first level are generally completed more quickly by experienced personnel. There's no time limit and you can go at your own pace – even stopping and returning to the class at a later time. You can take ToolingU classes anytime and anywhere. Although there is a computer-equipped training room available at the plant, you can also reach ToolingU from any computer with Internet access.
