(Dearborn, Michigan — October 20, 2014) A world-leading truck, bus and construction equipment manufacturer knows the price of a poorly trained workforce — $40,000 a year due to operator errors. Employee engagement in education and options for advancement were critical to moving key performance indicators in a positive direction.

To meet the challenges, the manufacturer created an incentive-based, online training program, coupled with improved hands-on training. The online program consisted of Tooling U-SME courses, which employees could access on their own time.

The results are impressive. Within two years, 47% of employees were enrolled in the Tooling U online program. In one year, the cost of quality fell from $40,000 to $0.
