Fundamentals

Stamping/forming/fabricating fundamentals provides an introductory look at the processes, terminology, and theory behind basic fabrication practices used to produce parts from sheet or tube metal. Stamping, forming, and fabricating involves an understanding of the various ways that presses, press brakes, and other fabrication machine tools can be used to produce parts, including shearing, cutting, punching, and bending, as well as the ways that the materials and tools used changes the result of an operation. Stamping, forming, and fabricating requires that operators be aware of specific safety rules to avoid injury at the pinch point of a machine tool. Understanding the correct methods for fabricating products prepares those interested in manufacturing the basic knowledge they need to proceed in the stamping, forming, and fabricating industry.
