Wire EDM Operator

Wire EDM operators run electrical discharge machines to create parts, often for tool and die applications using hard metals that are difficult to machine or for making prototypes. Wire EDM operators also set up EDM machines and write programs using G code programming, and monitor the machines while they are running to make any adjustments to the program or controls during machining. Wire EDM operators must understand basic metal cutting theory, as well as metallurgy and basic workholding principles. Wire EDM operators also inspect finished parts after EDM operations are complete to make sure the part is within tolerances.
