Pequot Tool and Manufacturing

Building a Manufacturing Pipeline Through Apprenticeship

In a remote area, about three hours north of Minneapolis, sits Pequot, Minnesota, a small town of 448 people known more for hunting and fishing than employment opportunities. It’s also the headquarters of Pequot Tool & Manufacturing (PTM), a privately held, second-generation, family-owned precision machining and fabrication company. After 35 years in business, and facing an ever-increasing worker shortage, owners and leadership were inspired to seek out a new state-sponsored, dual-training program.

In order for PTM to develop the program, the company needed a strategic partner to gain credentials that would make it attractive for grant funding. With no educational institution in the area, PTM used Tooling U-SME industry-driven workforce education for its online learning and the National Institute for Metalworking Skills (NIMS) to fulfill the national credential requirements.

Read how Tooling U-SME helped PTM educate new employees, retain incumbent workers, and improve quality in the workplace.
